Democracy and the Internet
Democracy is a form of government that gives people a say. And it needs young people to be involved. There are many ways to get young people involved in the democracy using the Internet. Democracy needs the Internet in order to survive because it will be easier to get young people’s attention, it keeps people up to date, and people can get information. Democracy needs the Internet in order to survive because it will get young peoples attention. Hoff writes that “You’re unable to control the press, so how can you keep a grip on … all those bloggers, Twitters, and chatters out there?” So why cut off a useful resource that can get young people’s attention. Using the Internet you can get them involved in the democracy. And it would be the easiest way to get them involved.
Democracy needs the Internet in order to survive because it keeps people up to date. According to Henning Hoff “The party's online popularity is evident on Studivs.net where its profile page has 75,000 fans...” So you can use the Internet to create profile pages and keep people up to date. And with the profile page you can also inform people about things. The Internet will help people stay interested so that they keep checking for updates. And it will be better for them to check for updates on the internet since they are always on it. Democracy needs the Internet in order to survive because it keeps people informed. Hoff writes “Obama galvanized young voters with his use of the Internet and catchy slogans “yes we can...”. In those catchy phrases it can inform people about something and get their attention. Other ways to keep them informed is using websites that people often use like twitter and facebook. When they see something on the internet that catches their attention they would usually click on it and read it. The Internet can be a good way to catch young people’s attention and get them involved in democracy. Considering the fact that young people are always on the Internet it is the best way to get them involved. And the Internet will help them get involved easier. Democracy needs the Internet in order to survive because it is easier to get young people’s attention, it keeps people up to date, and it keeps people informed.
