Clashing Viewpoints: U.S Immigration Policy
I think that the learning outcomes that this project goes under are Work Ethic, Collaboration, Oral Communication, and Written Proficiency. It goes under Work Ethic because we had to work hard to understand what the policy meant and what it did and we also had to put a lot of work into our speeches so that they were good. It goes under Collaboration because we all had to collaborate together to get the speeches one and to do the debate. It goes under Oral Communication because we all had to to talk during the debate to communicate to others why our side was right. It goes under Written Proficiency because we had to write our speeches and make them good so that others would understand what we were trying to say.
Government Regulation PAC
For this project we had to answer the driving question to what degree should the government regulate business, and what candidates should voters support in order to achieve this regulatory goal?. We also read the book Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. The book was about the different things that the fast food restaurants do because they don't have enough government regulation. The book talked about how the meat was infected with E.Coli and they still gave it to the people so then the people got really sick and some died. It also talked about how the restaurants were very unsanitary and if something fell to the ground they would still give it to the people to eat. The restaurants were able to do these things because they did not have enough regulations. We had to create a website talking about how much regulation something needed. My group and I did a website and a video taking about how we want to keep employees and consumers safe by doing things like inspections and removing unsafe products from the market. If the companies have bad unsafe or unsanitary products then the company can be fined. Our website includes a mission statement, campaign advertisement video, Obama's policies and a vision statement.

Boom and Bust
For this project we had to interview people on the 2008 boom and bust period. We also had to read a book called The Great Gatsby. The book was about the great depression. How people would illegally have alcohol. Gatsby would throw big parties and invite many people and in the parties he would have alcohol. With the interviews from the people we interviewed we had to write a book talking about the different ways in which the 2008 boom and bust period affected them and their families. We had to find connections between the 2008 boom and bust periods and the pre 1920s and the post 1930s.
