Project Me
In this project we had to crate a 5 day meal plan. It helped me watch what I am eating and how to eat healthier. Project me helped me understand more about how some food gives our body energy and how some food gives our body less energy. We also had to present by talking about a sustainable change. My sustainable change was to eliminate soda. Instead of drinking soda I am going to drink more water because soda has to much sugar and I don't really drink much water. I think that this project goes under work ethic and critical thinking because in order to do the sustainable change I had to work on it the whole day and also because to make the 5 day meal plan it required a lot of thinking and figuring out what meals are healthy and to think about different meals for different days so that their is a variety.

Visual Aids Project
For this project we had to create a poster that explaining/teaching others how to do a logarithm problem. My group and I go the base change formula problem. In our poster we included an example of what the problem looks like with letter and an example of what the problem looks like with numbers and when it is solved. We also had steps in our poster on how to solve the logarithm. I think that this project goes under collaboration because my group and I had to work together to get the poster done. I think that it also goes under critical design thinking because we also needed some design in it so that it didn't look plain and it needed to be clear and readable.
Fishkill Project
For this project we had to figure out who caused the fish kill in the American River in Sacramento. The driving question was What caused the fish kill in Sacramento, who is at fault and who is responsible for fixing the problems caused?. We had to figure out who were the people that caused the fish kill and how the people responsible should fix the problem. We answered the question by making a chart on different things like water flow, PH, metals ect. Each group had a chart that they had to graph and then we all had to share it with the whole class so that they would all know the difference from the two years and the week of the fish kill. The different groups were the Agricultural group, the power company group, the engineering group, the mining group, the water sanitation group, the town council group, the scientist group, the chamber of commerce group, and the tax payer group. My group was the Agricultural group. We had the chart for water flow and we graphed it for the 2 years and for the week of the fish kill to see if their was anything different. To present this project we had to do a Town Hall Meeting with all the groups. In the town hall meeting all the groups had a chance to talk and answer the questions that the town council asked. In the town hall meeting we figured out who was responsible for the fish kill, who should pay, and how to prevent it from happening again. For this project we didn't just need to collaborate with our group members but we had to collaborate with the whole class. We had to collaborate with the whole class because each group had a different graph and information so we collaborated by sharing the graph and information with each other. Another learning outcome that this project goes under is Content Literacy because in order to figure out who was responsible for the fish kill we needed to have information of what our group did to cause or not cause the fish kill, what we could do to prevent it from happening again, who else might be responsible and know what we were talking about.
Reusable Usable Art Project
For this project we had to create something of something that we weren't going to use anymore or that we were just going to throw away. The product that we created need to be able to be used for something. My group and I decided to make a chair. We decided to make a chair out of wood because one of the group members had scrap wood just laying around in her house from a porch that her dad made. The materials that we used to make the chair were wood and some nails. The wood is a covalent bond and the nails are metallic bonds. The wood is mostly cellulose. The nails are made from steel. My group and I fulfilled the project because we made our product using something that we were just going to throw away and we crated something useful. One of the learning outcomes that I think this project fits into is Critical Design Thinking. This learning outcome is when you have to design/ create something and you have to do it so that it looks right and comes out the way you want it so you have to critically plan out how you are going to do the the design or make the product. I think that it goes under Critical Design Thinking because we had to really plan out how we were going to design the chair keeping in mind that we only had a certain amount of materials. Another learning outcome that I think this project goes under is collaboration. Collaboration is when a group of people work together to get something done or to make something. I think that it goes under collaboration because my group and I had to collaborate to make the chair. We all had to work together to put it together and make it look good.
Art Show 2012
For this project we had to make a piece of art using conic sections. Conic sections are circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas. The picture that we made was a small picture of a bigger picture. We made the picture using Geogebra. We put in the formula and put in the number to make the shape where we wanted it. We used the original picture to add color so that it would look as close as possible. I fulfilled the project because I made the art piece using all the conic sections and I put color on the picture using the original picture. One learning outcome that I think that it goes under is work ethic. Work ethic is when you put time and effort to complete something. I think that this project goes under work ethic because I had to take time to do it so that it would come out right and so that the conic sections would come out wherever I wanted. Another learning outcome that I think that it goes under is Critical Design Thinking. Critical Design Thinking is when you have to think and plan out how you want it to come out. I think that it goes under Critical Design Thinking because I had to be creative when making the art piece because we could only use the conic sections and sometimes it was hard to make the conic sections go where we wanted it to go and sometimes somethings did not look like conic sections.
Radioactive Comics and Games
For this project we had to make a game or a comic that included probability, radiation and decision making. My group and I decided to make a board game. To play our game you can choose to go through a long path with less radiation spots or the shorter path with more radiations spots. You role the die to go up how ever many spaces. If you land on the red square then you have to pick a card from the radiation questions and answer it. If you dont answer the question or if you get it wrong you can chose to stay their or thake a chance card. The chance cards say stuff like " go up 2 spaces" , "go back to start" and "go back 3 spaces". Who ever gets to the end first wins. We included radiation in our game by putting facts around the path and making card with questions about radiation. We included decision making because you could ether chose to go through the long path with less radiation spots or the short path with more radiation spots. Also because if you get the question wrong or didn't answer it you decide if you want to stay their or if you want to pick a chance card. We included probability by rolling the die and picking chance cars because their was good and bad ones. This project helped me with collaboration because in order to get the game done my group members and I needed to collaborate. We had to collaborate with ideas and collaborate putting it together. This project helped me grow in collaboration.
